In this tutorial we show you, how to create and configure your first ad server in the RapidStream Panel.

Welcome to another insightful Rapidstream tutorial! Today I’m thrilled to guide you through the process of creating a new ad server and configuring it to seamlessly integrate with your ad rules and kill switches. Buckle up as we dive into the intricacies of ad server setup.

Setting the Stage:

Before we embark on our ad server creation journey, let’s ensure we’re on the right track. Logged into the panel, I double-check my organization, crucial for proper configuration. In this tutorial, we switch to the demo organization for clarity, emphasizing the importance of acting within the correct organizational context.

Creating Your First Ad Server:

Creating an ad server is a straightforward process. Click on the ad server tile, and with a few clicks, you can initiate the creation of a new ad server. I name it “demo ad server” for illustration purposes, emphasizing the simplicity of this step.

Configuring the Basics:

In the details view, we begin with the foundational configuration – the base URL. Input your ad server URL, and the system instantly saves changes. The beauty lies in the ability to enhance this base URL with configurations, allowing for flexibility and customization.

Ad Server Configurations:

We explore four configuration types:

  1. Text Configuration: Easily set a key-value pair, such as fixing the vendor as demonstrated with “my vendor.”

  2. Placeholder Configuration: Utilize placeholders, system-provided or custom, adding flexibility. For example, dynamically setting a country placeholder.

  3. Existence Check Configuration: Verify the existence of a key, transforming it based on conditions. Illustrated with a GDPR consent example.

  4. Conditional Configuration: Create complex configurations using mappings. For instance, setting channel IDs based on different channel names.

Fine-Tuning and Saving:

Throughout the process, all changes are instantly saved. We demonstrate fine-tuning configurations, adjusting placeholders, and ensuring default values for non-existent keys.

Enabling and Default Configuration:

Enable the ad server configuration before attempting to set it as the default. Once enabled, designate it as the default configuration for a streamlined ad management experience.

Conclusion:

With our demo ad server configured and set as the default, you’re now equipped to explore additional ad servers, create intricate ad rules, or delve into the world of kill switches. Rapidstream offers a robust platform for tailoring ad management to your specific needs. Stay tuned for more tutorials. Until next time, happy configuring!
